PM to launch High Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing - 12 February 2010
At 1230 GMT today the Prime Minister will join a videoconference with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia to launch a High Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing.
The launch follows the agreement reached at Copenhagen that 100bn dollars a year of public and private finance was needed by 2020 to help developing countries cope with the consequences of climate change and transition to low carbon models of economic development.
The Group - to be co-chaired by the Prime Minister and Prime Minister Meles - will explore new and innovative solutions on how to scale up long term financing for mitigation and adaptation for those most at risk.
The UN Secretary General will open the event, followed by remarks from both Prime Ministers, and then a few questions from journalists assembled in New York.

Solar Paint
A team from Swansea University have developed a paint which, when applied in layers to steel cladding, can convert 5% of solar energy to electricity. The project is easily scaleable and a consortium led by Swansea University is working on a process to cover steel sheets with the paint at up to 40 square metres per minute.
